Thousands Mindhunter Fans Sign a Petition Begging for a Third Season

Mindhunter fans have started a petition, calling for Netflix to make a third season of their favorite TV show. However, nothing but fake rumors have surfaced since 2019, when the viewers saw the last of the crime series.

Thousands ‘Mindhunter’ Fans Sign a Petition Begging for a Third Season

Mindhunter’s Creator Ended All Hope

A third season was rumored to be produced every few months, but Mindhunter fans never lost hope. Well, not until David Fincher, the show’s creator, simply added salt to viewers’ wounds just recently when he put the final nail in the coffin.

Fincher said that although he was very proud of the first two seasons, the audience pull wasn’t there during the show’s premiere and it had to be ended. In the eyes of Netflix, Mindhunter never attracted a large audience, at least not large enough to compensate for the extremely expensive production.

Dedicated Fan Crew for a New Hope

Mindhunter was based on a true crime book about the FBI’s “Elite Serial Crime Unit,” which developed a psychological profile to aid in the capture of serial criminals. Despite the series receiving favorable reviews from critics and reviewers, Netflix still decided to cancel it.

While Netflix didn’t appreciate the number of views after the series’ launch, the fan base proved that it’s not just a matter of mass viewership. Dawn Bruner is a fan who started one of the most successful petitions (one of the many throughout the years) with over 42,000 signs at the time of writing.

In the petition, Bruner addresses David Fincher, Joe Penhall, Charlize Theron, and Netflix USA. She speaks for all the Mindhunter fans out there, explaining the existence of a serious fan base online and how the viewers keep discussing favorite scenes and admire the brilliance of the show’s creators and acting crew. The fans are so desperate for a third season that they even suggested replacing David Fincher with another director that wouldn’t cost as much.
