Christopher Nolan Reveals the Best Spot in the Cinema to Watch Oppenheimer
Now that Christopher Nolan’s epic new film Oppenheimer is on the big screen, the director has shared his thoughts about where the best seats to book are when getting a ticket. Oppenheimer star Cillian Murphy has recommended people watch the movie on the big screen at a cinema, so getting the right seats seems to be important.
Oppenheimer Is Meant for the Cinema
When thinking about the cinema experience of Oppenheimer, people should consider that the movie has a run time of three hours. This means that plenty of snacks and drinks should be stocked up before going in. However, one shouldn’t go too far on the drinks to avoid having to go to the bathroom during the movie and squeezing past everyone’s legs to block their view. Missing big plot points is something most people don’t like.
Nolan’s advice on where to see Oppenheimer says that it will be best viewed in an IMAX cinema, in the middle, about a third of the way down from the top. As the director shared his thoughts on the best seat, he also stated that a middle seat in any row would be better. While that may mean doing some row-counting and math when picking a seat, the spectacle should definitely be worth it.
Nolan Prefers IMAX Cinemas
According to Nolan, sitting in the middle of a row a third of the way from the top would be above the center line, where the viewpoint is great and the sound is perfect. The director mentioned that the low end in particular, where the base notes are, is very impressive. Oppenheimer is available to watch on regular cinema screens and IMAX screens, but Christopher Nolan has praised IMAX on numerous occasions, stating that it makes movies even more immersive.
Nolan apparently likens IMAX to 3D without the glasses, explaining that a viewer would get so immersed in the image that the screen would disappear. According to the director, IMAX film cameras and projectors offer a format that’s the closest to how eyes see the world. This makes a clear case to book a ticket for an IMAX cinema, especially if the seat is chosen wisely.
Another big movie in cinemas that’s currently circulating is Barbie. Some people have already made sure to watch both movies because of the unexpected but delightful difference in terms of genres. Most people fall into one of two camps, those who would watch Barbie first and those who would go with Oppenheimer first. It sure would make for an interesting experience to watch the two movies one after the other!
